Salvation
We have a problem -- Sin:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
-- Romans 3:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
-- Romans 6:23
But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
-- Romans 5:8
God's solution -- Salvation:
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
-- Ephesians 2:8-9
God's gift through Jesus Christ must be received:
But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.
-- Saint John 1:12
God's promise for all time:
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
-- Romans 10:13
All who have accepted Jesus Christ by calling upon His name in prayer, have received these gifts of grace:
Our sins were forgiven.
(Colossians 1:14)
We became children of God.
(Saint John 1:12)
We were made heir to all of God's blessings.
(Romans 8:16-17)
We now possess everlasting life.
(I John 5:12-13)
We became Christians the moment that we received Christ.
We don't trust our feelings, for they change.
We take God at His word:
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
-- Psalms 23:1-6
