Jimmie McKnight's Biography

A faithful servant of God, Pastor Jimmie McKnight was born in Liberty, Mississippi. He came to know the Lord at a very young age and was baptized as a teenager at the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
After graduation from Capitol High School, Mr. McKnight received a bachelor of science degree in industrial education from Southern University. He went on to earn a master of arts degree in technical education from Marshall University in West Virginia.
Upon being called by God to preach the Gospel on December 23, 1988, Pastor McKnight's outreach and evangelism ministry began as associate pastor at Saint Paul Baptist Church in Saint Albans. He served as chairman of their Christian education department as well as a member of the pulpit and bylaws committees and choir. He has represented the congregation at numerous pastors' conferences while teaching Sunday school for the past sixteen years. Concurrently, Pastor McKnight was a Bible teacher for Precept Ministries of Chattanooga, Tennnessee for ten years.
Married to the former Rosie Lee Patterson, the McKnights were blessed with two children, Lavetta and the late Ivan, and are the proud grandparents of Nakia and Joshua.
Pastor McKnight is a much sought after evangelist and singer who maintains a constant schedule of appearances, including visits to churches, nursing homes and prisons. He has released albums entitled Going To Extremes, Looking Unto Him, Saved To Serve and Love Of God, which feature his most requested songs. His television credits include The Answer Ministries, Living Faith Ministries, Shine Through Ministries, Plus Or Minus 60, The Encouragers and Celebration!
Jimmie McKnight's strong belief that the Lord has called him to break down cultural, religious and racial barriers led him to form Word and Song Ministries.
